We have 143 hectares of vineyards. The oldest vines are to be found beside the new winery in Olite, and at our “El Bosque” Estate at Traibuenas, where most of our vines are planted. Traibuenas is an upland nature reserve a few kilometres south of Olite, at an altitude of 400 metres. The lime and clay slopes face south, giving optimum exposure to the sun. Our vineyards have very low rainfall. We have developed an ‘integral viticulture regime’, respecting the environment, and reverting to the working methods of our grandparents’ generation.

The vines our ancestors planted live on in our vineyard. We have grafted cuttings of selected old vines onto rootstocks that we have chosen for each patch of vines, depending on its soil type. The vines are oriented from north to south, in rows three metres apart, with one metre between vines in the row. This provides optimum leaf exposure to the sun. We use traditional methods of cultivation, but with modern equipment. Almost everything is mechanised. Our whole viticultural philosophy is focused on obtaining the highest possible quality of grapes, even if this means drastically reducing our yields.
