Currently, the family tradition of Bodegas Ochoa is based on the married couple formed by Javier Ochoa and Mariví Alemán.Their daughter Adriana, winemaker and responsible for production and quality control, has joined them. Recently, their youngest daughter Beatriz has joined them to cooperate in the marketing department of the winery.
Javier Ochoa Martínez, current director of Bodegas Ochoa, took charge of the business that his father Adriano had already relaunched and settled. After studying enology, he joined the wine cellar and directed it exclusively to the wine bottling and to the modernization of the production techniques. In addition, he built some new premises in the outskirts of Olite , which are the current location of Bodegas Ochoa.
In 1980, Javier Ochoa was contracted by the Government of Navarre in order to promote the wine in the province and he became responsible for enology at EVENA (Estación de Viticultura y Enología de Navarra). He worked for this project until 1992.
In 1992, he decided to come back to his cellar, run by his wife, Mariví Alemán. In that moment, the cellar was boosted by the first varietal wines and an expansion of its activity.
From 1994 on, he began to work on R & D (Research and Development), which is still on and represents one of the trademarks of Bodegas Ochoa.
The family tradition continues with Adriana Ochoa, enologist and responsible for development and monitoring of wine, quality control in vineyard and winery and also responsible for R & D projects. Adriana attended Higher Education in France and she obtained the BTS degree (Brevet Technicien Superieur) in Viticulture and Enology (Bordeaux-Blanquefort) and the DNO (National Diploma in Enology) at the University of Toulouse (ENSAT, INP). Her end of degree project was based on the aging of red wines.
Beatriz Ochoa, who recently joined the family business to look after the marketing department, studied International Management in the University of Navarra, with a special interest in Marketing. After some years studying and working abroad, she decided to come home and work in the winery.
The future of Bodegas Ochoa is guaranteed because Adriana Ochoa, together with her sister Beatriz, is promoting a new range of wines “8a”, a further step along the innovation line we continue to satisfy all palates.
