At this section, we offer our clients and visitors the results of our vintages, from 2000 to the present time.
2008 Vintage.
We had a fifteen-day average delay because of the rain and cold in spring. That’s why we started the grape harvest the 23rd of September instead of starting about the 8th of September. It was an atypical year in terms of maturity. The garnacha grapes matured even before tempranillo, probably because of the smaller amount of polyphenols in its grape skin.
It was a gap between the technological maturity (degree and acidity) and the phenolic maturity (polyphenols). It’s been a year to be relaxed, waiting for the ripeness without worrying.
The year is considered excellent thanks to the warm days (18º-25º C during the day) and very cold nights (5-9º C). This made the polyphenols to mature well. This year we’ve got very fine, elegant and stable tannins.
2007 Vintage.
There was an early and abundant flowering at our El Bosque estate. The morning low temperatures caused an irregular berry set with several abortions and therefore, a reduction of the vintage.
The autumn was atypical, hottest and sunniest than August during the day and cold at night, it favoured an exceptional maturity. There was a late harvest, long and calm. The vintage was reduced and as a result, a concentration of grapes. So, this is a great year at Bodegas Ochoa.
